Club News…

MMAC is looking for volunteers to join us as a Committee Member, a Coach/Assistant Coach, an Official.

This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved with the club, support our athletes, grow the club, and help things run efficiently behind the scenes and during events.

No prior experience is needed - just a willingness to help and be part of the team! Full support will be provided.

If you're interested in volunteering or want to learn more, please email the club at [email protected]

In addition, we are always appreciative of any local businesses who can provide donations to help us with the cost of equipment, kit, training new coaches, and the day-to-day costs of running of the Club.

Huge thanks to PD Ports for their recent donation.

If your business can support us with a donation, please email the club at [email protected]

Membership…

Everyone who trains with Middlesbrough Mandale Athletics Club is required to sign up to our membership, and to also be affiliated with England Athletics.

New members will be sent a "membership information capture form". Once completed, you will be sent a link in order to pay your annual membership fee (the renewal date is 1st April each year).

When you make the payment via the link, your membership fee will automatically split between the the Club and England Athletics. Your athlete affiliation with England Athletics will also be immediately processed. England Athletics then issues a Unique Registation Number (URN) via email, which will stay with the athlete for life. This URN is required to enter many events.

If you would like to become a member of Middlesbrough Mandale Athletics Club, please send and email requesting a "membership information capture form" to:

Training Sessions...

Our training sessions mainly take place at Middlesbrough Sports Village, where we have the use of the indoor and outdoor track.

Most training sessions run on Monday to Friday evenings (although some groups also train on a weekend), with the first sessions starting at 17.30 for the U11's.

U11's groups are available on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (1 hour sessions).

Most coaches of athletes aged 11 and over expect their athletes to attend training at least twice a week. They are also expected to compete for the club at local competitions.

Suitable running attire and footwear is recommended for training. Club kit can be purchased from the club for use at athletics events, but is not required for training sessions.

A water bottle is essential. Bring a warm coat to wear during rest periods.

Parents/family members are welcome to watch from the stands. There are also toilets/changing rooms, a café (subject to opening hours) and vending machines within the Sports Village.

Welfare & Policies...

Welfare:

The Club Welfare Officers are Peter Breckon and Claire Johnson. They can be contacted via email at [email protected]

Welfare covers a range of issues such as safeguarding and protecting children, anti-bullying, poor practice in coaching and disciplinary matters.

It encompasses policies and procedures to set out minimum standards of expectations, such as codes of conduct, procedures to follow for dealing with child protection concerns, other welfare issues or complaints, and to ensure that the Club meets statutory responsibilities to safeguard and protect children and adults.

Welfare is essential to contribute to good practice within athletics, develop performance and to ensure the safety and enjoyment of athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers.
