Club News…

MMAC is looking for volunteers to join our Membership Team!

This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved with the club, support our athletes, grow the club, and help things run efficiently behind the scenes.

This team will take on the responsibilities of a Membership Secretary, ensuring that athletes are registered with both the club and England Athletics. Tasks will be shared among the team, so you won’t be doing it alone!

Typical responsibilities include
:

✅ Managing athlete registrations and renewals and liaising with the treasurer on membership payments

✅ Keeping records of members, volunteers, coaches, and officials

✅ Ensuring athletes are eligible to train and compete

✅ Handling athlete transfer requests

✅ Maintaining GDPR compliance and data privacy

You would also be expected to attend monthly committee meetings - as far as possible - and the AGM.

No prior experience is needed - just a willingness to help and be part of the team! Full support will be provided.

If you're interested in volunteering or want to learn more, please email the club at [email protected]

Renewing your membership…

Existing members will be sent a renewal reminder / payment request email towards the end of March. This will come from the email address ‘[email protected]’  The message will explain the process and provide a safe and secure link to a payment page. You will then have six weeks to complete the payment. You will be sent a reminder email towards the end of the six weeks if you still haven’t paid your renewal membership fee.

Upon payment, your membership fee will automatically split between the payment to the Club and the payment to England Athletics. Your athlete affiliation with England Athletics will also be immediately processed. If no renewal payment is made to the Club during the six-week payment window, the Club will regrettably have no option but to resign you from both the Club and the England Athletics portal. Unfortunately, this will mean that you can no longer access any training sessions or be able to complete for the Club. You can however choose to reapply for membership by contacting the Club again.

If you have any new membership / membership renewal queries, then please contact the Club on the email link below.

Training Sessions...

Our training sessions mainly take place at Middlesbrough Sports Village, where we have the use of the indoor and outdoor track.

Most training sessions run on Monday to Friday evenings (although some groups also train on a weekend), with the first sessions starting at 17.30 for the U11's.

U11's groups are available on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (1 hour sessions).

Most coaches of athletes aged 11 and over expect their athletes to attend training at least twice a week. They are also expected to compete for the club at local competitions.

Suitable running attire and footwear is recommended for training. Club kit can be purchased from the club for use at athletics events, but is not required for training sessions.

A water bottle is essential. Bring a warm coat to wear during rest periods.

Parents/family members are welcome to watch from the stands. There are also toilets/changing rooms, a café (subject to opening hours) and vending machines within the Sports Village.

Events and Club Kit…

MMAC encourages and prepares our athletes to participate in athletics events and competitions, some of which include NEYDL, NECAA, YDL, Senior League, NYSD, NEMAA, England Schools Athletics, Park Runs, Charles Stuart Open Graded Meeting, and more.

Athletes need to be affiliated with England Athletics to enter many (but not all) events. Affiliation is via the membership process, as outlined above. To participate in events, you will need to wear a Club vest or crop top. These can be ordered from the Club via email to [email protected]
